In answer to your charges against me, dated 19th instant and No. 511/1907, I most respectfully beg to tender this as my reply.
(Charge 'A'). On or about the 25th of November, 1906, it being one of my servants' birthday, I was asked by him if I would be so good as to let him have a couple of fowls as a birthday kumshaw. I then gave orders to the Master of the Wing Cheong Mo Kee poultry shop (at No. 17, Ko Shing Street) to supply my said servant with two fowls, and to send the Bill to me.
About the 21st of December, I ordered a turkey from the above shop, and I then asked the Master of the said shop to forward the Bill to me, along with that of the two fowls I previously had, which had not yet been paid.
He informed me that the Bill would be sent to me by his boy by the end of December or early part of January, 1907; this he did not do, therefore the Bill has not up to date been paid.
I may state that I have been dealing with this shop ever since I have been in No. 4 Health District and have on all occasions paid my bills at the end of each month, with the exception of the amount stated, which should be about $3.50.
But of late I have not had much dealings with these people, owing to the fact that I have been eating my meals with...
